Some webmasters try and use articles from free content directories to get traffic to their website and make some money.  This is mostly vital for those who have just begun working as an associate for many firms and don’t yet have any funding, yet need to built little niche internet sites to traffic to their site so that they can start to make cash.

Though this can often be the sole option for those that are running on a non-existent budget, it isn’t a way which will effectively build your website or money.  There are a few potential reasons why this may be damaging to your business building efforts.

Problem one – Search Engines

Search engines will only look down on your internet site if it has the exact same duplicated content than other sites.  The more sites that share your content, the less it will help you achieve good search engine listings.

Good search engine rankings are essential in getting visitors to your sit so that they have an opportunity to click on your affiliate links.  If you can’t even get traffic, then will never make an income.  Working on the search engine optimization of your internet site so that you will at last be high enough in the results to get customers, should be priority one.

Problem 2 – Getting traffic to click

Though getting your web site high on search website result pages and acquiring site visitors is hard work, sadly this is only 1/2 the battle.  You need to also be ready to convince those visitors to click on your affiliate links.  If your visitors see the same content they have seen on a multitude of other sites, they may be least likely to click on your links.  The reason being because the general public wish to buy things that are recommended by folk that they trust or whom they feel like are very experienced on the subject.

If your content is just duplicated from other sites, you’ll be exposed as someone who doesn’t actually know what they are speaking about and thus will not look heavily on your product suggestions.  This will reduce the number of website visitors who will be willing to click through.

Problem 3 – author Bylines

Most free content is only given to you if you agree to put the authors byline under the article ( you can get into difficulty if you attempt to use it without following the outlined rules ).  This poses a difficulty because most author bylines include links.  When a reader gets done reading a really intriguing article, there is a strong chance that they can click on the author’s byline link instead of your associate links.  This is the entire reason that these authors offer free content to begin with, so that they may get their name and links out there to the public.  Using this type of content may mean shooting yourself in the foot and losing possible lucrative website traffic.

Once you put these 3 problems together, you’re looking at a significant decline in money simply because you used free website content from article directories.  Though it could be the sole option for some, if you’ve got the funds to buy your own original content, then you need to go this route.  If you do not have the uncovers , however, you may be better off writing your own content and then hiring professional services once you have made a profit to work with.
